LEADERSHIP

ERIC J. SALTZMAN, FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR; Mr. Saltzman founded Southpoint and is currently responsible for implementing Southpoint’s equity and mezzanine investment programs. He also is primarily responsible for new business development, capital placement and investor relations. Prior to running Southpoint’s equity and mezzanine investment programs, Mr. Saltzman managed Southpoint’s flagship hedge fund, SCP Global Investors, from 1999 to 2002. While running the fund over its three year life, Mr. Saltzman generated returns for investors in excess of 21% per annum (net of all fees). Mr. Saltzman is also Founder & Chairman of Ignition Point Capital Group, a member-managed private equity group focused on investing in early-stage growth companies across South Florida. Previously, Mr. Saltzman was a Vice President in Morgan Stanley & Co.’s investment banking department. He spent seven years with the firm in both New York and San Francisco where he completed over 30 transactions valued at approximately $15 billion. Projects included mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and public and private issuance of debt and equity securities for the firms corporate and real estate clients. Mr. Saltzman is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics (conferred with honors).

DAVID G. ESTES, MANAGING DIRECTOR & GENERAL COUNSEL; Mr. Estes is responsible for the legal affairs of Southpoint. He also is actively involved with new business development and capital placement. Mr. Estes has been practicing corporate finance and real estate law for 20 years, during which time he has worked at two of the largest law firms in the United States. He currently is a solo practitioner where he continues his emphasis on corporate finance and real estate. He has represented real estate owners and developers, registered investment advisors, institutional investors, underwriters, banks, and life insurance companies. Prior to forming his current practice, he was a Partner at O’Melveny and Myers and an Associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Mr. Estes graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science and summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law where he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

BRIAN H. SALTZMAN, MANAGING DIRECTOR; Mr. Saltzman is currently responsible for developing new business opportunities and investment strategies for Southpoint. He is also actively involved with capital placement and investor relations. In addition to being a member of Southpoint’s management team, Mr. Saltzman is a Principal at DBS Partners LLC, a proprietary options trading firm, where he currently co-manages the firm’s S&P 500 volatility trading book. Mr. Saltzman has been actively trading options and futures professionally for 20 years. Current position strategies include volatility arbitrage, risk reversals,calendar spreads, skew swaps, interest rate bets, long/short gamma and long/short vega (average position size of 250,000 contracts). Previously, Mr. Saltzman held senior trading positions at Banc National De Paris and Cooper Neff and Associates. Mr. Saltzman is a graduate of Northwestern University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

JAMES G. CLIFFORD, INVESTMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER; In addition to being on Southpoint’s Investment Committee, Mr. Clifford is President of Montgomery Advisors, a private real estate firm providing direct equity investment in real estate transactions, as well as development and consulting services. Prior to forming Montgomery Advisors in 2000, Mr. Clifford was Vice Chairman of Shorenstein Realty Service, LP, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Shorenstein Company. In addition, Mr. Clifford spent 13 years with Cushman & Wakefield where he participated in some of the highest profile commercial sales and leasing transactions in the country and was recognized among the firm’s top producers from 1986 through 1997. Mr. Clifford is a graduate of the University of the Pacific where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

DAVID J. SCHURMAN, MD, INVESTMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER; In addition to being on Southpoint’s Investment Committee, Dr. Schurman is currently Professor Emeritus of Orthopaedic Surgery and Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at Stanford University. During his 35 year tenure at Stanford University, Dr. Schurman has held positions as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery, Director of Sports Orthopaedics and Associate Chairman of Orthopaedic Research. Dr Schurman has published nearly 200 scientific peer reviewed articles and book chapters and has held editorial positions at 4 major orthopaedic journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Orthopaedic Research. In addition to his medical activities, Dr. Schurman is an active member of the Stanford Farmers, an investment group consisting of 20 current and former Stanford professors who invest in and support privately held start-up companies located primarily throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Schurman graduated from Yale University where he received a Bachelor of Arts. He is also a graduate of Columbia University where he received his Doctor of Medicine.
